Crucifixion by Constantino Brumidi
Artist to two popes in the Vatican, Brumidi is known as “The Michelangelo of the U S Capitol”. Congressional Gold Medal Award (posthumously) signed on July 1, 2008 by President George W. Bush . Of the numerous paintings and murals, especially noteworthy is The Apotheosis depicting George Washington and the symbolic maidens of Liberty, Justice and the thirteen colonies in the dome of our U S Capitol.
